The latest local excavations prove that the tradition of spas flourished in Komárom already in the age of the Romans. Although we do not know whether the citizens of Brigetio knew about the treasure hidden in the ground or not, we have data to prove that osteoarthritis and the rheumatic illnesses of the Romans were eased by thermal water. The spa was an important place of social life and relaxation. And so it is today: come and heal, relax and recharge your energies with us.

One of the biggest attractions of Komárom, the city of fortresses, is the excellent quality of its thermal water. The Brigetio Thermalspa of Komárom is situated in the heart of the city. The water, which is 62 degrees Celsius, was declared as thermal water in 1967. It has served the healing and relaxation of our guests for nearly 50 years.

We look forward to your visit in the Brigetio Thermalspa of Komárom!

A 1700 year-old bath tradition in Komárom-Brigetio!

Sensational archaeological findings were discovered in 2014. An enormous, 800 m² large spa complex was found during the excavations prior to the Komárom-Almásfüzitő flood protection project conducted in a one-acre area. Spa buildings had not been discovered in the territory of Brigetio before.

The foundations have been preserved in good condition; the floor has survived at certain parts, even in large areas. The spa complex used to have floor heating. A similarly significant finding in Hungary was last revealed in Aquincum/ Budapest in the end of the 18th century.

Out of the premises of the spa, the 100 m² large caldarium was identified, which originally included hot water pool and a heating room, which was discovered, too. The spa was channelled underneath at several places, one part of the channel system runs under the heating room in its original state. Only 10 % of the site has been excavated so far.
László Borhy, the leader of the excavations explained that none of the excavations in the last century had revealed as large, continuous and densely built part of a city as the current excavations.
